How will stealing ships remain balanced economically?

Speculation

In Pete Hine's interview he mentioned space ships are "Not cheap" which makes sense... and the prices seemed really high when hovering over individual parts in the gameplay video.

I'm wondering now, because it seemed really easy in the Kreet gameplay once you killed the pirates like you could just walk in and steal the ship they ambushed you with.

That also seems like you just stole a ridiculous sum of money -- in my mind it'd be worth literal tonnes of ammo, several guns and armors at the least.

Unless the resale value of stolen / conquered ships is a tiny fraction of new... it seems like you could steal a handful of them and be super rich and buy a bunch of houses?

Any insights here?

** addition to post as there are some good ideas in thread of ships being marked stolen as lower resale value:

Should ships that you "conquer" I.e pirates attack you, and you win and loot their ship, be considered stolen? Much like how if a skyrim bandit attacks you and you loot their sword, it's not considered stolen.
