Does "Drugs or Me" take inspiration from The Verve's "The Drugs Don't Work"?

I recently listened to The Verve's "Urban Hymns" album for the first time recently (great album), and I couldn't help but feel "The Drugs Don't Work" sounded vaguely familiar. I realized it had a similar verse melody to "Drugs or Me," which paired with the similar title, made me wonder if this was intentional or explicitly mentioned by the band.

I've googled whether this was the case and came up empty. Is it a conscious interpolation or an extreme coincidence? It seems so obvious to me that I'm surprised I hadn't seen anyone mention it.
