New World's Potential
I see in the MMO sphere the word potential used a lot, as these games take a long time to develop and grow they have the potential to be amazing right?
Well, I played ESO back when it launched until the time NW was released. The whole time I played ESO I always thought that the game could become something so amazing if only Zenimax would make X or Y changes.
By the time I was ready to move on to NW I realised that ESO was never going to be what I wanted it to be, and I spent way to much time arguing and complaining that the game was taking the wrong direction. Now I realise that the $ was all that really mattered in the end for these games, and instead of enjoying what the game was or moving on I got stuck being an unhappy customer because it diddnt become the PvP smash hit I was screaming for it to become.
So now I'm playing NW and have been since launch / later betas and again the game has so much potential, but this time around I'm not going to argue and complain if it isn't what I want. Instead I will just move on to something else when I stop having fun, and enjoy the ride until then.
That change in mindset of "I'm not tied down to play this game" has actualy helped me enjoy the experience so much more, even through all the bugs and problems. Not sure exactly what I am trying to say with this post.. im not trying to say poor development decisions are ok or excusing them, i just wanted to share how my change in mindset has greatly impacted my day to day enjoyment while playing this game.
If you love the game play and have fun, if your not having fun thats OK, lots of other great games to go enjoy instead! Constructive criticism is great to help the game improve, but sometimes this games reddit / forums can be so negative it just reminds me of how upset i used to be playing ESO and always wanting something the game diddnt have instead of enjoying what it does.
