New Players Galore - PS

Playstation plus has the game free now, but i never expected to see this.

On my recent server i went to Line in the Sand. Did it solo, no biggie. Eviction notice pops up, no one attends. My casual team is just me and no other teams in Social menu.

So i look on the map and there is a convention around Vault 76 and a platoon of level 2's marching towards the wayward. I counted no less than 9 level 2-3's and at least 6 or 7 more players between level 4-13. No one's on teams. It just seemed weird. I tried to give stuff to a few of them and they ran away (i'm around level 300 so maybe i scared them). Good luck to the new cohorts. Expecting to see a lot of posts here asking for advice.

On the other side of this, I’m a new player and some of the high levels I’ve encountered are downright weird and pushy. Had one guy follow me for like a half hour today while I was just trying to read some terminal entries and learn some of the lore. Dude kept dropping massive amounts of stuff and like, I get it, you’re trying to help. But I don’t really play Fallout games just to be given stuff and cruise through the game on easy mode. I want to find that stuff for myself. It’s like starting up a new FO4 survival mode run, but then downloading a mod that has Codsworth just hand you massive amounts of purified water, preserved food, and stimpaks every twenty seconds. It kind of defeats the point.

High-level players, please, if you’ve been following a low-level like me for a while and they’re doing their best to ignore you and not picking up what you’re dropping, take the hint.

a lot of new people dont realize how hard the mid game gets, i try to help but if someone wants that struggle then by all means😭

Conversely, I had a level 2 hang around my friend's CAMP for about 15 minutes yesterday evening even though we'd already dropped all the armor and plans we wanted to. We finally had to fast-travel out of the area to get rid of them and force them to play the game! lol

Welcoming all new players but this isn't Ark pvp. You have many other creatures to worry about that will kill you than some random high lvl lol.

I started 2 days ago and was expecting big crowd cheering and throwing their stuff at me.

I had champagne bottle (irl) prepared that I could pop open to celebrate. No one was there to wait for me except few other level 2s.

I still have that botlle unopened...

I’ve been sneaking around there bases invisible and opening and closing doors on them so they think the games haunted

Some of them were passing through my camp while I was in camera workshop mode. I’m sure they found it strange as I moved stuff around or scrapped items right in front of them.

I tried waving and giving 3 under level 5s stims and food, but they started attacking me and my camp 🙄 I'm in the 300s. While screaming toxic nonsense in the mic. They got the smoke with no effort (pretty sure the AI follower, a rogue molerat and a turret killed them)and came back a couple times before ultimately giving up. I hope it doesn't continue down this path because the servers were full up like this with dead camps and events in PS.

Yes, that was part of my post that events and teams were dead. It should change hopefully for the better in a couple of weeks.

We take our fallout 76 culture for granted. All the little unwritten codes that we follow.

They will learn. Or they will leave. I'm fine with both of it.

And these are not just unwritten rules anymore. EG Pvp is so walled off, even if both sides agree, it's hard to pull it off. Our culture has already become part of the game mechanics.

I wish we had cross save, cross play between consoles, and graphics upgrade that is on PC and Xbox series X/S.

I upgraded from to a series x a couple weeks ago and really haven't noticed the graphics being any better. Maybe because Im playing on an older projector that doesn't have 4k support. Load times are Infinitly better though. If it takes more than 10 seconds to load anything i know my game froze.

I have had no load issues with pc or Xbox series X. My friends who have not upgraded to the series S/X have.

I didn't think I had load issues either till I upgraded. Then I realized server hopping used to take me a minute, now I can log out of a world and back in to another almost instantly.

I started playing in November. If they start shooting at me or my base (right in front of wayward) and I have pacifist mode off will my turrets kill them?

Your turrets won't react unless you shoot back - then it's open season on noobs.

So far i havent had any noobs shoot at me but i had one level 300 shoot at me with a gatling gun, and like a level 1200 fire mini nukes at my camp

Yes, omg. Tried going on earlier to do some events, which is what I usually go on to do. Server was full of noobies. After a while of playing and doing some quests I’ve been avoiding/waiting for people to join events, I change servers. Same thing. Change servers again, more noobs lol. Tried gifting a few stimpaks and bobby pins, but they must have been confused by my beacon loot box.

It’s great that so many people are starting to play. Hopefully in another month events will be full of participants. But for now, it kind of sucks.

I've been dropping items for new players. If you saw a Chinese Stealth Suit guy wave at you, you are quite welcome and I wish you success in the wasteland.

You can't anyway. They're squarely in the green zone and can't be targeted.

Even on PC there are tons of new players! My BFF and I were able to dump a bunch of level 1 leather armor and common plans to four different people in the few times we weren't running around getting stuff done. I think part of it is because it's after Christmas and people may have been given the game, partly a sale I saw for the game on Steam, and partly due to all the PS people hyping the heck out of the game on places like Reddit! lol

I guess now would be a good time to start a new character, and maybe experiment with new builds (go bloodied if you are full health or vice versa).
