Surgery in my future and possibility of infertility

So I had a referral with a colorectal surgeon a few months ago to talk about what my surgery would most likely be like since I’ve been through so many meds already since being diagnosed a little over 2 years ago. He really made it seem like no big deal and that it changes people’s lives for the better etc. One thing I’ve been worried about is the potential to become infertile from the surgery but he basically said there’s such a low chance of that that I shouldn’t even worry about it. Well another med stopped working and I met with my GI to start the next one and he mentioned surgery again since I’m running out of meds to try. He seemed very concerned about infertility since I said I do hope to have kids one day. He basically said the remaining meds he normally wouldn’t prescribe but that I should choose whether to accept the possible risks of taking them to get me through the period of having kids before having surgery just to be safe. Idk how long that will be though. Now my mom and grandma are talking about how I should consider freezing my eggs in case I have surgery and it makes me infertile. My grandma is in the hospital right now for something unrelated but was talking about my situation with her nurse and that’s who actually suggested the idea. I guess my grandma has some money saved and told my mom she’d pay for the procedure if I go through with it. Has anyone here considered this or talked to their doctor about it? It seems doable but isn’t the infertility related more to scar tissue and uterus, not egg production? This is just a lot for me right now and I’m feeling kind of overwhelmed
