Bartering points

My hairdresser and I have recently started trading haircuts for Hilton bookings. He's excited to get a free hotel night (really he's all about the free breakfast), and I'm happy to have found a way to effectively "cash out" my Hilton points. I can now take that money, and afford to buy eggs.

I don't recall ever really seeing this discussed before, and was wondering if anyone else has found any creative ways to "redeem" points for goods/services?
