idea?

Question

Would poking the mycelium or "damaging" it make it freak out and produce the mushroom bodies faster then leaving the mycelium alone?

Mycelium that is stressed usually fails to produce mushrooms.

Researchers and hobbyists have tried everything from "poking" to vibrating, to electrical shock.

Almost all the results have shown that stressing the mycelium does not cause it to fruit.

Does playing them any kind of music encourage fruiting?

YES!

Go search out the Videos of Mycellium Playing a Synthesiser..

Also

I believe P. Stammets has done Musical Exprriments with Mycellium and fou d that they react very positively..

Apparently there is legend that a Certain Rare Cubensis DOUBLES it's weight if esposed to Rik Astley's "Never gonna Give You Up" for 6 hours per day ...

(the last sentence is a Complete total lie...... but don't take that as fact that it is not also true)

You have the "Science" answers...!

Now let us try... Common Nature Logic.

Mycellium grows under the ground near the surface.

Animals... BIG Heavy Fat Animals ... Stomp and Chew and Dig and Shit and Piss and Lie and sleep on the surface..

MEN drive and Dig and Swear and Shout and Build and Demolish.....

Storms, Hail Stones, Cyclones and Heatwaves thrash at the Surface and Soak the Mycellium underneath... sometimes it Dries up Violently and cracks the Earth into dry broken nuggets !Metres below the Surface.

Then... when it is time...

MUSHROOMS GROW.

EVERY SINGLE YEAR!

But I've read somewhere that outside shrooms "grow up" fighting contam and the one you grow yourself dosent so it needs your protection. That's why I kinda stopped this idea go. Lol

Mycellium is Hardy and Will fight to grow ANYWHERE.
