2 pound pup ate a sliver of onion

Help! My 2 pound puppy ate a little piece of onion (sliver off of a sandwich) on Saturday and started with explosive diarrhea yesterday. She is still playful at times but not like usual. Took her to the vet today but didn’t realize onions were toxic to dogs until leaving the vets office so I didn’t mention it. Now I’m freaking out, will she be okay? Plan on calling the vet first thing in the morning. From what I’ve read, seems like she ate enough to cause issues but not enough to be life threatening?

Unfortunately poison control charges $75 per consultation, I called my local e-vet and explained to them what happened. They said it was not necessary to bring her in, just to monitor and put her on a bland chicken and rice diet.
