Phrases I’ve Gotten Used To Saying
I’m just throwing out a random list of things I’ve been telling people over the years as I understand more and more that I don’t understand. At some point, I just got too frustrated with being misunderstood and dancing around the subject of trying to read between the lines. Do any of these sound familiar?
- I didn’t hear you because someone across the room was talking/the air conditioner turned on/someone opened a door/I spaced out for a second/or other kind of audible interruption.
- Please explain to me as if I’m a child who hasn’t the slightest clue to this concept.
- How are you feeling?
- Thank you for listening (to my info dump/overshare).
- I love you, now I’m going to go eat my lunch by myself.
- I’m confused.
- What is (insert pop culture reference here)?
- Yes, I live under a rock.
- I don’t know what (word I’ve never used in context before) means.
- Processing, processing, brain error, thinking thinking, word recall, etc (when I freeze up in the middle of a sentence).
- I need you to teach me how to do this thing and hold my hand the first time so I know I’m doing it right.
- Yey, numbers! Numbers are easy, there’s only ten of them.
- The silence is too loud.
