Would a discovery of alien civilizations help reduce hates between human beings?

We all know how racist and xenophobic humans are so it will probably reduce hate against humans but massively increase hate for aliens

it would just cause hate towards the alien civilizations regardless of if we’ve established contact.

Imagine they go to earth to establish trade or a non-violence treaty or something, only to get attacked by an angry mob of bystanders despite having peaceful intentions

Great question
