op 27 no 1 by Chopin is much harder than it looks

Discussion

I thought this piece wasn't too bad. My brain just breaks on the B section. I can't seem to keep my left hand even while maintaining everything else in the right hand. Not sure why, it's some weird coordination thing.

There's a very challenging 8-bar passage at the climax of the B section, starting with the broken 10ths in the left-hand, and that one triplet that makes you leap 2 octaves.

It's tough. Slow way down, get it secure, then gradually pick up the tempo, is the way to do it.

honestly I don't have as much trouble with that lol. What throws me off is holding down the inner voices and keeping the triplets even whilst managing the polyrhythm and lining everything up

I have a pretty wide span and I'm decent at LH jumps. I'm bad at fast even repeated notes.

Are you talking the held low notes in the LH at the start of the B section?

Definitely don't pedal that part; it will sound mushy. Keep your hands low.

Phrasing the left hand with the offbeat accents in the agitato section (after the climax I referred to earlier) is a bit tough, also. I keep the LH soft and gently stress the accented note.

Is this the first time anyone every said "Chopin is much harder than it looks"?
