Could r/drugs do an AMA about SSRI antidepressants? It would educate about drug interactions, side effects, and withdrawal symptoms

SSRIs are ubiquitous in American society today, and many people have taken them at some point or another. Despite this, there is a HUGE amount of misinformation out there about these drugs! Why don't we do an AMA? I'm willing to do it if nobody else wants to. I have taken two different SSRIs and one other antidepressant over 3 years.

  • that they dangerously interact with tryptamines (they just reduce the intensity)
  • that they have a deadly interaction with MDMA (nothing happens, it negates the drug's effect)
  • that serotonin syndrome is exceedingly common (actually quite rare)
  • that they're not addictive (many depressed opiate users say the withdrawal is just as bad or worse than heroin)
  • and the worst of all: that if you get anxiety when you take them, you should just take more. You may be latent bipolar in which case SSRIs are bad for you and you should probably stop them immediately.

True, they are not recreational drugs, but considering their prevalence, I think they warrant a bit more discussion.
