A book with a character that lives in a hotel and makes stock picks based on the bible

Basically the title. There may have been a garden with some kind of portal and a ladder. The MC (or one of the main characters) makes stock picks based off the bible and makes tons of money. There's also some kind of ladder, maybe in a garden that has a portal to another dimension or it may allow time travel. This might be two separate books.
