you make me proud
You know not what you seek, and your knowledge of alchemy is incomplete. Here is your just reward.
You should probably add a spoiler flag my dude
To be fair, it’s spoiling the ending to what is essentially the tutorial
A spoiler flag doesnt hurt, and its barely an invovenience for those who dont care about spoilers.
But also its barely a spoiler in my opinion, people constantly post much rarer stuff here.
I dont know which side to take, i feel like both perspectives make the same amount of sense
As someone who hasnt beaten the 'tutorial' i've seen this alot of times and I kinda know what happens now.
I'll do it
I'm under the impression the 33 orbs might be the true ending, or some variation of the orbs. Without enough orbs completing the work kills mina, but in certain instances it just... Doesn't. I doubt that is a mere coincidence or gameplay design
Depends what you think is minas goal. If it is about becoming rich, then it is not 33.
That's the thing, with how many ways one can achieve "infinite" gold in this game, it's a very plentiful resource. There's even a midas spell that lets you turn anything you want into gold infinitely.
When I first started this game I thought gold was the thing to be collecting at any time, but now it's just.... Frivolous? Seriously, if you start the run with chaotic polymorphine you can get like 250k before even going into the mines. Same for pheromone and tablet which is literally (though not practically) "infinite". I think the orbs having "true" knowledge really is supposed to let mina know what they are supposed to do in this world (that hardly has any directions). Without the orbs, the gold ending implies a human want, infinite wealth, albeit at the cost of dying.
...I'm not really sure where I'm going with this, the game is truly left to the imagination, but something just doesn't make me think the gold ending, in any form (toxic included) is supposed to be the "true" ending. I could be wrong though. Would love to hear more theories on this
Well gold as a ressource can be acquired. But I think the meaning is, that mina seeks infinite riches and thats why the normal gold ending is the blind greed. 11 is the achieved path of riches and mina acquires what she desires. More orbs is kind of her being too greedy again (because 11 orbs are in the main world), using parallel worlds wanting more than she should by absuing her new won knowledge, thats why she gets punished again, but different. And after acquiring all the knowledge she learns the true meaning and brings peace (33 orbs).
Is it explained anywhere why Mina is trying to turn the world into gold?
I’m pretty sure she was never trying to do that. The Work is incomplete unless you orb out.
it's essentially the bad ending, iirc
The ending is based on being greedy and instead of pursuing the real goal, mina decides to create a world of gold. Not knowing it is to her own demise. Ofc the player doesn't know they make that decision.
So I think she wanted to make the world gold, but did not know how to do it in her favour.
It's beautiful. What? I'm not crying
It's raining again
You are crying gold now
