Coming soon, to a trench near you.
UA Drone Swarms & their bombs coming for Ivan
Been saying this from the start, the future of warfare, planes/helicopters can’t fly close to the frontlines without being shot down.. if this one man band “home production” Ukraine/west should be putting more effort/support into production.
There was a report somewhere, can't remember where I read it, a few days back that Ukraine announced something like $400mill was being allocated for drone production. Also saw one of the guys who had a crowdfunder say they'd just ordered 3000 circuit boards so I don't think they're unaware of that.
Drones are tremendous value:
Each drone is about $500 max, & reusable
Range: 10km, 20-25 min flight time
Operator only need 20 hours of simulator training
Operator not exposed to any danger
Russia has triangulated ground stations or followed drones back from missions to strike Ukrainian drone operators with artillery. And quadcopter operators have to stay close to the front for range/mission duration.
Drone operation might be a bit safer than being in the infantry fireteams during an assault. But like snipers, they're priority targets once spotted. We've seen Ukraine bombard single, isolated drone operators with a half dozen shells, and Russia can do the same (perhaps less efficiently). If Russians ever learned of Madyar's location, I think he'd merit a BM-21 salvo.
From what I've seen, some of the drones they're using now are small so this means reduced range. That's why they have to stay close for mission duration. Bigger drones = bigger batteries = further range = more safety.
Seen a pickup truck with a range extender antenna.

These are single use drones in this post...also a few hours for anyone with any fps experience..
well that's 130 right ?
120 or a small gross.
EDIT: you're right, it's a buck thirty
And each has a max thrust of 6kg so that's a LOT of pain waiting in that one room.
Methinks the US Army should spend less time recruiting FPS gamers, and more recruiting FPV drone racers. It should sponsor tournaments and practical drone engineering classes.
Agreed. Plus I wonder why we kept sending guys out on patrol in a Humvee just to get blown up and shot at, when they could have just used drones to gather all that information. The UA has integrated cheap drones at the squad level clearing trenches, doing recon, kamikaze, sniper spotting, tank spotting. Directly giving information to the boots that need it. The US army uses Parrot Anafi drones a little, but those are made in France. They have some super expensive ones made here. I dont know of a single drone manufacturer here in the USA. Bottom line when we need them in a future conflict with China we wont have any or guys trained on them.
Don't really need any hardcore skills, just enough to fly and press the trigger. Would only take about 20 hours plus of simulator training.
Drone grunts will will need some intel and vehicle identification skills, and enough insight into electronics to maintain gear and select good sites for their transmission repeaters. That's the sort of skill set that running tournaments could encourage. "You can run your race, and we'll provide a prize, but the course is 2 km from the launch point, and there might be a bit of light EW". We don't expect most to to become the electrical and mechanical engineers of Aerorozvidka.
But, US based/supported version of Aerorozvidka, full of well educated engineers and former soldiers/marines from their Drone MOSs, would be pretty great at Aberdeen and China Lake. Its remarkable the good designs these groups develop that don't get nearly enough support because they're not the usual contractors.
They should have millions of those
Do they ping the radio signal / piggy back off the drones filming the action from above to give the kamikaze ones more range?
Not yet I don't think but who knows. The next few years are gonna be interesting.

Jagga Jagga! Slava Ukkraini!
Many orcs will get to see them up close real soon
This is the way 👍

wait, hold up...
is one of the drones attached to an at4 or just resting on it?
Yes

I can't help but let out a little giggle as I think to myself... Those are some spicy meat-a-balls!
imagine that many dead tanks
It takes me two days to build and bug fix an entire one of these on my own 😭 I guess if it’s the same thing constantly it’s a lot easier
All I see is dead Russians in this room.
Chinese firms make all drone components, they're making a killing 💵💵💵

And that's just one guy's home production. This stuff scales up.
I plugged this video into ChatGPS with a vector diagram of the drone and all the information my web crawler could locate about Ukraine and russia.
It said this is not enough send more, now.
That’s a lot of dead ☠️ Russians.
