Planning to live in NYC, but my remote job is located in MD. How much of a change will my paycheck be and how do taxes work in this situation?

Unsolved

Currently, I live in Maryland, and my job is in Maryland. Since I work from home permanently I want to live in NYC. How do taxes work, and will this affect my paycheck dramatically?

You would tell your job that you've moved to NYC, and they would start to withhold New York taxes instead of Maryland taxes.

As a NYC resident, you would be responsible for both New York State and New York City income taxes.

Don’t quote me on it but I think the both state and city income taxes range from like 4% to 10% so reduce your checks by 8% to 20%…

State is 4% to 10%, yeah. But City's 3.078% to 3.876%.
