Fed influences go farther than genetic "cures" for predation

Here's a thought: It's very easy for information to get "lost" during the transfer from one medium to another. The Feds could have purposely erased a lot of knowledge just by convincing new members to convert their stored data to the new personal pads they gave them. A little bit or bite here and there with each software update over a few centuries and who would notice? Might be a good idea for a story: Someone in contact with the humans sees there are holes in their own knowledge and goes in search of older, forgotten, storage mediums and finds a stash of books in someone's attic, or basement, or locker, etc. At which point they realize 'holy crap, we KNEW this stuff!'

They did mention the erasure of pre-uplift history, technology, and religion.

Yes, many different writers have had characters note this in their stories. I'm suggesting a "follow-through."

I was talking about canon. I haven't read any of the fan-fic yet

I wonder how many species actually understood the ecology and all that before the Federation came along and said "Nah bro that's wrong. Look at your tech, how can we be wrong?" and erased everything that didn't for their agenda.

I mean we see the early stages of that with the Yotul when they bombed and destroyed their railroads. It’s not much of a stretch to think they’d destroy books and libraries too since “why would you ever use a book when you can simply use one of our highly advanced data pads”
