[Discussion] Stop worry you will never be as disciplined as you think
yeah so we were always teached that its only you who can make changes in your life blah blah blah...
I'm probably not alone with this: I have a really good week or even a month, I can finish every task I can do everything as I want and then something gets wrong and after a few weeks or month I realise that I'm off the track and can't understand how I got here again when I've read all the books I already know all the methods etc.
On the other hand I always "praised" east asian ppl because of their willpower and discipline. Those guys just work hard everyday for their goal and I always wondered how... and after many talks and reading about the subject I've started to see a pattern.
(I talked to many chinese and japanese person about this but if you experienced different thing pls correct me and yeah I know east asia is not only china and japan but I didn't talk to other persons I also know that south korean ppl work the hardest and I have 0 info about SEA and India).
Key part is motivation but not as you think. Self motivation is a really nice thing but never constant or "eternal" this is where (for example) chinese culture, society, community or whatever comes in the picture. Society expects you to work hard. We can call it an external motivator. Most family either show the example of hard working or they hold you accountable if you worked hard enough everyday for the sake of the family's reputation. Quiting is not an option there or you become an useless part of the community and you will bring bad reputation on your family's name which is not acceptable there.
While in western society parents, community etc. teaching you to do anything you want in your life. You don't like your job? No problem just quit. You don't like to workout? No problem just stay home. Western community lack of external motivators. Even if you know by yourself that you shouldn't quit you will find a person really fast who quit the shitty job and he is enjoying his life now.
"western" community lets you take a break. Family name or community reputation is not a thing here, we don't care and almost 0 pressure from outside to grind or change your own life. Western community lets you live while East asian community (or most asian community) has high expectation that you need to fulfill to be relevant even a little bit.
I don't say its impossible to be disciplined but until you prefer to quit your shitty job where you need to overwork or until you see that everyone around you prefer to chill instead of working hard you will do the same. If you really want to change you need the external motivator aswell. Like everyone around you should have high expectations and they shouldn't let you skip even a fucking day because thats where you will lose or you should see the example of hard working around you EVERY DAY.
Disclaimer: People who work really hard and never quit are mostly unhappy it ALMOST impossible to be ultra disciplined and happy at the same time.
So start to accept your life now and pick a side: Become ultra disciplined and stop wasting time on fun things or enjoy everyday and do as little as you can to survive.
