Probably not worth trying to fix the geometry?
Try it, it looks like previous owner made it squish to 16:9
It's not that squished as the SMB3 map screen shows. But I'm more bothered by that upper right corner. I'll have to figure out how to display them test patterns.
Do you live in a PAL country? Maybe that's why it's still a bit squished
Yes. Finland.
It's probably a failing cap causing vertical collapse.
Nope SMB3 just has black bars on the top and bottom when on the overworld, maybe a little squished at worst
Tiny CRTs are the best CRTs!
sounds like something a PVM user would say
If only
can't disagree
Especially for our spines !
Color miniatures are rare compared to the millions of B&W portables, I like it! Internally you will usually find adjustment pots on the circuit board that allow adjusting of scaling and other aspects that lack outward controls. If you find the v-height & v-linearity a combo of adjusting both will get the height and vertical distortion situated.
I've seen many small sets exhibit similar deformaties in the corners. Sometimes it is just a weak capacitor in one of the vertical stages on the board, but a lot of times it's more of a combination of factors or just all around cheap production that aren't worth attempting to correct.
Pull out the zapper baby
Iirc, the manual that comes with the zapper tells you a range of CRTs that are bigger than 5" xD
get playin and have fun
I though it wasnt that small then realised it sits on top of an NES...
A 5" COLOR crt? Pretty fucking cool.
I hope one day to score a 5" color CRT. That's really neat!
Composite or rf?
Composite.
That's 5 inches? Suddenly I feel better about myself...
