Upscaled S-video vs. native component
Hi all, question for anyone who doesn’t mind answering. I have a Retrotink Mini that I run S-video through from my PS2. S-video is not the best, but it certainly is a vast improvement over composite. I was l thinking of getting some PS2/3 HD Retrovision cables just for the hell of it. I have an older 4K Vizio TV that does have component inputs. I’ve seen mixed things about plugging PS2 component cables directly into an HDTV. Some say it’s amazing and others say it’s terrible. I’m assuming that depends on the TV. My guess is S-video in this instance would be superior since I can run it through the Retrotink, whereas I’d have to plug the component cables directly into the TV. Which do you think would display better?
Tl;dr version: S-video fed through a Retrotink Mini or component fed directly into an HDTV via HD Retrovision cables, which would look better?
Thanks!
