You aren't going to find a different response anywhere. A person alive is a threat. Ever play rust? You have naked gremlins running all around in primitive gear or not trying to gather loot from the "chads". The same thing happens in tarkov. Get ready to be murdered in dark and darker. You might say you are naked and just there for some other reason, but who believes you? Are you telling me if you saw exo gear on the ground you wouldn't pick it up? Don't lie to me bro. We all would. That reason alone is good enough to remove you from the map.

Before you claim I'm some "bully", I specifically go to solo bright sands to help people. PvP is fun, but I mostly enjoy the social interaction now. Nevertheless, I know the risk I run by letting my guard down and allowing people to get close and/or live.

Threat evaluation is something this community is sorely lacking the ability to even accomplish

-19
MrTunl•

What do you mean?

2
PathorixOP•

Exactly what I said

People suck at evaluating threats

This community is so Neanderthal

-30
MrTunl•

Do they? You might believe yourself to be a non threat. But no one can know that for certain, which means you have a non zero threat rating. People are fine at evaluating threats. If you put 3 people in a field, 2 exo kits and 1 naked kit, the two exos are going to duke it out first, every time, 100% of the time. That is threat evaluation.

But if you put 3 people on a map, and the two exos dudes are on the other side of the map, while the naked is right next to one, they are going to remove you, because your proximity makes you the most dangerous thing. Even being naked has the potential of being a nuisance, like a fly on the wall, and your saying otherwise doesn't help because, like we all know, people lie.

You underestimate the power of someone with nothing to lose

You gotta play like everyone is a threat, because they are. Regardless of how you want the game to play, people are going to ensure their safety.

Its a pvp game at its heart. Its not a looter with some shooter elements baked in. Its an online fps first and foremost. I dont know why The Cycle attracts this "i'll be friendly, i wont be a threat, let me live" mindset a lot, quite many posts like this both here and discord.

According to my experience, both in Cycle and Tarkov, when people tried to be friendly, i got backstabbed more than getting an actual friendly encounter. There is no "threat evaluation" as you put it because there is almost zero benefit to being friendly.

Looks like you didn’t evaluate a threat as well…

ToasterGuy566•

Situation evaluation is something you’re Neanderthal brain can’t manage to understand

1
Dyscypher•

I evaluated a threat once, dude was chill and funny the second I saved us from another person and took some damage he knifed me and probably looted both of us.

1
realDaupz•

you had no gear, what do you mean equally geared players? you want to meet naked people?

everybody knows from zero to hero exists and knifes are killed for that reason.

huck209•

Good for him. Why are people still doing naked knife runs this far into the wipe? Scared to lose the gear that’s going to be gone anyways in a month?

dre9889•

This genre of game might not be for you, and that’s okay.

Yesterday someone posted a video that explains why these kinds of things happen.

The video taker (Who was running naked) was spotted by someone who he was trying to sneak up on while they were exfilling. The exfiltrating player said it was alright, he was friendly, and expressed that he was okay with sharing his ship with them so they could evac. So as the ship's leaving, the video taker exploited the civil nature of the exchange to get a knife kill on one of the players and take their shit.

Unfortunately, normal players pay the price for other people's "I am the living embodiment of a piece of shit" playstyle.

I met a noobie on bright sands and spared him. Gave him a shattergun and we chased down a couple people and killed them and I let him have everything. Escorted him to extract and feeling super generous right before we left I threw my armor down so he could have it too and he shattergun'd me right in the back.

I turned voip off and now everybody can get the smoke idgaf. I play this game to shoot people, not play "can they be trusted" simulator.

Holy crap that guy sounds like an asshole. Sorry my dude.

What else did you expect? Lol

Should have brought gear

Kuhaku-boss•

Pvp games my man, i just kill everything i hear and see, is the fun of spending hours in farming the gear.

2
HowCouldMe•

If you only have a knife, I kill you because you’re either no risk hunting or rating my loot. If you have no backpack, insta kill: you’re only there to take someone else’s. And if I’m wrong it’s no cost to you.

1
PathorixOP•

For the record I haven't met a single soul in bright sands who didn't immediately try to kill me because their epeen is bigger

Where are the folks who say they are there looking for equally geared players only?

Haven't met em

-2
PineappleHumdinger•

I had a few encounters yesterday where I started fighting someone on BS saw white armor and stopped shooting. With so many people hiding with brutes I usually always shoot first but if I see white armor I call out and ask what they are doing. This leads to multiple engagements where we go our separate way.

2
PathorixOP•

It's a shame I don't see many of your kind

0
PineappleHumdinger•

Sadly very few people play like this it seems. During beta there were a ton of interactions and conversations.

1
PathorixOP•

That's what hooked me into the game honestly

0

I’m always friendly if someone asks. I’ve been backstabbed before but the random voip friends are always worth it to me even if one in ten backstabs me. If they seem sus I run. Bad vibes, run.

1
MrTunl•

Many are, but you are in the way. If that makes sense. I don't mean literally, I mean you pose a threat and people would rather not have that threat around.

-1
PathorixOP•

But I don't pose a threat.

I'm 50 feet away with only a knife. Explaining that I have only a knife. And I don't move towards them in a threatening way.

Not a threat.

2
MrTunl•

You don't get it. People lie. Moreover, you are a threat because you exist. That's not your fault, that's just how these games work.

Hence why gear based matchmaking needs to be a thing

-1
Unseen123456•

What else do the devs expect when there is no wipes. Why be nice to people when you have all the gear and nothing to do. People get bored and just shoot each other. Game had a lot of potential but it’s over

-3
PathorixOP•

Ahh you don't see a bully admit to being a bully so openly very often. How about go play a different game then, and let the new players or under geared players play instead of being a dickhead and making sure you ruin the experience for other players?

Also gear based matchmaking might actually be the play

-5
MrKleiCaffeinated Leafling :FrankenLeafman:•

I agree with the initial point you made. But you call someone random that is just playing the game (as intended) a bully lol. You're not entitled to anything.. This is the core loop of the entire game. Stop playing if you don't like it. S3 will probably make it worse in the long run.

2
PathorixOP•

Core gameplay needs adjusting if it promotes jerks being jerks tbh

My new post about gear based matchmaking might be the answer all seek other than the people bullying for the sake of it.

MrKleiCaffeinated Leafling :FrankenLeafman:•

Full loot pvp. Everyone fears losing their gear so I can't really blame them. Doing a knife run, I expect a bigger challenge for myself but with the trade that I don't lose gear on death. I expect no mercry.

My biggest problem with this game is that it's impossible to see what someone is wearing without shooting them. They (the devs) prefer characters skins over visible equipment. Which I think doesn't do a game like this any good (besides making them money).
