Lack of support 2023 Dream Machine Special Edition UDM SE /USW-Enterprise-8-PoE

Complaint

Hello, so Im posting this here as well as other forums as a general warning to would-be buyers

Im coming from a USG and a pair of APs that were rock solid for about 6 years. Like set and forget, update from time to time

I needed more power and wanted to get away from data leaving the house ( cameras, storage, etc) so decided it was time to upgrade

Purchased in the last 30 days:

Dream Machine Special Edition UniFi OS UDM SE 3.0.18 with added UI Care

USW-Enterprise-8-PoE

USP-Strip

U6 LR x2

U6 Light

11 cameras

After install into my decently cooled rack, I noticed the console said it was running at 51c, the data sheet said the max is 40. I chatted with support who stated multiple times "O that's within range if it's working ok nothing is wrong" I repeated but the datasheet says directly something else. back and forth and then they agreed to send it to internal teams, 27 days later I get an email "they said it was fine" case closed.

We had to directly fan this unit to get it to match the stack temp of 30c. Not ideal for a fanless* unit, but I carried on. (* unifi has updated the internal fan settings per update in the last 3 EA firmware, so temps are obviously a known issue in some aspect)

From installation, our UDM-SE has had packet loss, high latency, random restarts, and network port crashes. This was explained in responses to this support chat, but I also opened a support ticket 10 days ago as well about the crashing directly (no response)

This morning our USW-Enterprise-8-PoE went down. was powered and port lights were picking up some sort of traffic, the unit was not delivering any data connection to computers, AP's, the UDM SE, or anything.

Reset it using the front panel screen and it all came back on.

Updated our still unanswered support ticket

As I read through the forums here and other places it seems like Ubiquiti is on a spiral of half-backed ideas and not fully implemented hardware, which would be ok if they offered support to soothe the questions of its users, road maps, etc, which I see non of.

Just words of warning for others who are upgrading. Don't go chasing Unifi waterfalls just yet

*edited to clarify I'm not concerned about the temps as much as the multiple units just crashing or freezing.
