Radiance on Necrolyte?

Recently I've been playing with my friend who has been playing games as Necrolyte mid lane and building Hand of Midas into Radiance. It has actually worked fairly well so far, but I'm sure there are some downsides I haven't seen yet. Is there a good reason to use this build? I couldn't think of any downsides to this besides the fact that the attack damage from Radiance is wasted a bit and you are squishier without a Mekanism. However, the constant killing of creeps from Radiance, similar to bloodseeker, would keep you alive longer. Has anyone else thought about this build and has any insight to why it is good or bad?
