Haven’t played D2 in nearly 2 years, what’s the PVP Meta?

When I used to play I was used to the hand cannon, Felwinter’s lie meta. Played a few Control matches and it’s SMG galore. What’s the meta for control these days? Trying to ease my way back into Destiny in time for the new DLC.
