What parts do you guys think are the best bang for buck nowadays?

Hardware

I’ve been limping along with a Ryzen 2600 and GTX 970 for far too long and want to build a new, good system with the best $/performance available. I want it to perform well for both desktop gaming as well as VR through a Quest 2 (or some future, better headset). I was thinking of doing a 3070 matched with one of the Ryzen deals that have come up from time to time from Microcenter which I thankfully have nearby but I’m not sure if there is better combos available.

Lately I’ve been considering just piecing it together using used parts or just buying a complete, used system locally but would like to get input on which parts I should be after (either great deals you’ve seen new or used).

I was hoping to stay below or around $1k for the system (at least for the main parts if not the full system as I might be able to reuse some parts like ssd and psu), but can come up more if that’s what it would take to get the best price to performance ration and use the system for more years.

Please let me know your thoughts. Thanks for the input!

Edit: thanks for the input!
