First timer … and soft paint! (BMW jet black)
I have never polished or buffed a car before with a polisher… I am looking at purchasing the Chemical Guys kit on Amazon that comes with the DA random orbiter, pads, and some cutting and polishing compounds (it’s their 11 piece kit)
I have a BMW with jet black paint. It is notoriously a soft paint, and black is tough as well in general.
I don’t need ‘perfect’ results as my car is a daily driver and sits outside, and is 12 years old. I do take care of it with waxing (Klasse products) and I never take it through automatic car washes, only ever hand washed.
I have been watching YouTube videos and reading forums/articles from beginners to pro level advice.
With my soft paint… what do I really need to be careful about? Cutting will be the “easy” part… it’s finishing and buffing that I am reading will be tough.
There are a MILLION products on the market but plan to just go with the Chemical Guys kit… and use their “hybrid” (medium) cutting compound.
Tips? Tricks? Thoughts? Advice?
Thanks!
