Does anyone understand?
Hi friends, This is my first post in here. I am starting to come to terms with my shopping addiction and discovering recovery. Is anyone else highly triggered by social media? I see things that others have purchased and I cannot stop thinking about them once I’ve seen them. It’s like FOMO but with products, designer bags, makeup, clothes, home decor. I feel like less of a person if I’m not constantly buying. I grew up in a very wealthy family and never connected the dots between working hard for money and saving it for important things instead of blowing it on useless trendy clutter and expireable makeup and products. I have a home that was purchased in cash and a car that’s fully paid off. I keep telling myself that I don’t need to save money, but I’m coming to terms with the fact that I should, and even if I don’t have to, my happiness is now fully reliant on constant spending. If anyone else is in a similar situation, how are you coping? Is there a light at the end of the tunnel? I am tired of constantly being triggered to spend.
