Differences Between Sony Handycam DCR-HC32 & DCR-HC21 Video Characteristics (MiniDV question)

asked this on r/sony but pretty sure I got spam filtered lol

For context, ideally I would get an HC32 (specifically for grungy video quality) however I cannot find one in my area working, on the other hand the HC21 is available for an okay price in practically new condition.

I want to know what key differences, specifically in video quality the HC21 would have from the HC32. From researching, these Sony models can have identical designs but have key differences (like for example the HC42 has the same body as these but ~double the effective video resolution DCRHC42 example footage, looks good to me but too good for my goal). Again main concern is similarity of video quality, from what I can tell they both have equally good(?) night mode and the same amount of zoom (?).

HC32 Footage (desired result, grungy look, fairly low res, limited/muted colors, fun use of zoom (hc21 also seems to have 20x optical zoom)

Did this video deliberately use MiniDV tapes in poor condition or transfer them in some way to get lower res for the aesthetic...???

HC21 Footage (only test footage I can find):

this one looks same as HC32 to me https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=9gK_48LSsqE

the following one however looks much more vibrant/clear (maybe the uploader is using better or new MiniDV tapes?)

test footage starts 1 minute in

Thanks for any info, not finding much online.
