Why are most of our successful east & southeast asian neighbors ruled by right-wing parties?

Politics

I've just realized this when I was having a dialogue with a friend of mine about how the Philippines was a sick man of asia and he pointed out how most, if not, all of the successful countries in east to southeast Asia are ruled by more right-wing and authoritarian governments. He said that our system of too much democratic checks and balance is what's slowing down the enactment of government policies like 4Ps and Welfare of Noynoy and his other pragmatic economic policy such as economic liberalization or BBB & infrastructure policies of Duterte, etc.

I didn't believe him at first but as I was research more of what he said, he might be right.

He pointed out how Singapore was basically ruled by one party which was the party that Lee Kuan Yew founded which was the People's Action Party (Conservative Party) for the past century.

The same thing is for Japan where the Liberal Democratic party (Which is liberal in name but is conservative or right-wing in ideology) have ruled japan for the past 70~ years where they only lost 1 election which was during 2009-2012 by the opposition democratic party (Similar to the liberal party.

Coincidentally, same thing in Korea where a right-wing party, the "People Power Party" and other allied groups such as Liberty Korea, Grand National and Democratic Liberal Paty & Democratic Justice, have won the majority of the elections with only the opposition winning 3 elections ever since the independence of south korea.

Do we have to give our government more power to allow them to actually enact & enforce policies to see actual change just like what Singapore, Korea and Japan did to boost economic growth?

Thoughts on this? Is the Philippines really ready for a Liberal Democratic government or do we have to give our government more power to allow policies to actually be enforced (By this, we need more checks and balance to prevent abuses)?
