i just listened King Of The Limbs for the first time and...
...its better than i expected actually!
It starts with bloom, and it imediately blows me off, with the crazy dancy loops and catchy melody. the piano on the background really does a lot for this song, the drums keep the energy going very well, Thom voice here is... Thom's voice, there is not much to say. the lyrics are pohetical as hell, and this song got a genuine smile off my face, 10/10.
For the track 2 now, morning mr magpie. it has the same crazy loop thing and i start to notice its something that will prevail through the album, the guitar loop here is simple but it unites everything very well, the mix so far in this album has been very good, its really good to hear. the chorus here is simple, catchy, it does the job, its a good follow up to bloom, 8.5/10
Track 3: Little by little. starts off more urgent and sounding more like in rainbows, specially disk 2. this song kinda makes me realize the other songs are just loops put togheter without much melodic variation, and it kinda masks it so it doesnt ruin the listening but it creates this cool dark atmosphere. the song here is instantly infectious as i listen once again some interesting lyrics by the band. this track is pretty good, i just wish it kinda dropped, it would have worked amazing on it, i know this album thing is to be crazy loop edm rock chill music but a big drop here would be great. with that said, 9/10
Track 4, feral... it has a crazy sample voice thing, and its pretty short experimental shaky edm here. i dont know how i feel about it honestly, cause i like lots of parts here and the song is extremely catchy even tho it doesnt have actually listenable voice, so this one will be a 8 but with a big of doubt, 8/10*
Now 5th song... Lotus Flowers :3, i mean... what can i say about this song? its catchy, pohetic, infectious, beautiful, dancy, and its meaning is so great. 10/10 and 100% the best song on here, also, Thom does the crazy dance at the mv, so its a instant 10 just cuz of that
Track 6, Codex. instantly got me surprised, 5 songs by and now the album starts using piano as the main instrument, but in a way it still sounds eletronic. Thom's singing here is BEAUTIFUL, i love it, the lyrics as always, amazing. i mean, its not radiohead's best lyrically but its hella good. the song after the 2:00 gets a emotional power i cant describe, its catchy as heck, even tho it doesnt have any chorus properly. i love the composition here, 10/10.
Track 7: Give up the ghost, this tr- WTF, guitar? crazy birds transition? wow, i wasnt expecting this, followed by Thom's beautiful singing, caught me off guard ngl. it very catchy and i like the whole vibe of it, i feel like this is one of the songs on here with the biggest replay value, 9/10
Now 8th and last song, separator. with a much more upbeat drum pattern and a interesting melody. the song works a lot as a closer, i just dont feel it matches the quality of the others on here, i feel like i won't come back to this track anytime soon. 8/10
Now the question, is king of the limbs the worst radiohead album? hell no, pablo honey exists, and that was a mid record with a few bangers on it, thats it. but this album lacks deepness and more musically, even like that, i kinda enjoyed it, i feel like for it being very subtle and short, it may even work for me better than amnesiac did, im feeling a 8.5 on king of the limbs (2011)
1 album to go, my ratings now are
Pablo Honey - 5
Bends - 9
Okc - 10
Kid A - 10.1
