Schizophrenia vs Wills & Estates

Opinion / Thought / Idea / Discussion

I honestly don’t want to insult anyone here but is a paranoid schizophrenic able to handle the stresses of being executor/liquidator to their parent’s estate? Well our late parent certainly thinks my younger sibling can.

But my sibling was in their apartment for 4 months after our last parent's passing, and was unable to find the will. Sibling moves, leaves 66% of the apartment full of furniture, garbage and appliances, for me to deal with. Gives me the key, I go in the next day with the landlady and 10 minutes in, I find the will.

I don’t want to sleight my sibling but I already feel the tension between us. One week sibling said “you take care of that role”. Next week my sibling loses their shit at me and declares they will take care of all this business, saying I know nothing and bombarding me daily with links for how to’s and various estate settlement info… from the OTHER North American country (not the one we actually live in!) My sibling will deal with parent’s taxes, bill payments, parent’s car lease and more. I just feel there is a lot to do; I see my sibling's cycle of energy/motivational levels and I don’t want my sibling to just drop the ball and then I end up having to do clean up again.

I talked to the notary but I don’t want them or sibling to think I am trying to gain some kind of an avantage. The will says quite clearly everything divides 50/50. I want to see the process reach a satisfying conclusion for both parties and then we can go on with our lives. I don't want my sibling getting stressed by the process...

Thanks for listening folks…
