Watching moe together while using voice comms (WMTWUVC) - first time's this saturday, October 13th!
Hello moebros! You might have heard some things (and some more) about us watching moe together using voice comms. Well, this is the first iteration of that. Or at least, the post that intends to inform about it.
Here's how I thought this would work; we'll use Mumble (an open-source voice-over-IP client) to connect to a server - I have one set up for use, read below - and watch moe together. Simple enough, right?
Things you'll need: the Mumble client, a headset/speakers and a microphone. As for a moe series, I was thinking of watching two things: the first episode of K-On! (it's quite a popular series, it is funny, has good music, and, most important of all, it has lots of moe) and the second episode of the Tamayura: Hitotose series (as it sparked the idea of moe-comms and is also moe). Be sure to catch up to the story beforehand!
So, when is it? Well, I thought it would be best to do this on the next saturday, the 13th of October. For most people, anyway; 17:00 UTC sounds like a good time to me. You can check what your local time is at that time here, but here are some common timezones anyway: US - Washington: 10 AM, US - Rhode Island: 1 PM, United Kingdom: 6 PM, Netherlands: 7 PM, Japan: 2 AM on sunday. The plan is to watch the aforementioned 2 episodes, so about an hour of moe.
Where is it? On the Mumble server with the following details. Server address: mumble-3.verygames.net, port: 50066, password: rawwnime. NOTE: The server password is not set to that yet, but it will be this saturday. You're welcome to join in early of course, but you'll have to drop me a message for the password. This is mostly because the server's currently limited to 10 users (it'll be 25 on saturday, just to be sure) and while I can make this number higher at will, some advance warning is nice.
Should there be enough enthusiasm for the thing in this form, I'll happily set up another server just for moebros (or, naturally, if someone else feels generous, they could do it too).
If you have any questions, comments or criticisms, I'll be happy to hear them.
Whew. That was a bunch of serious. As a reward for making it through all this, have some random moe images. See you on saturday!
Update: Mumble is now open, the thing begins in less than an hour from me editing!
Update 2: Aaaand we're done. Thread for next week is also up. \o/
