Meshify 2 - LF II 360 RAM clearance

Hello fellow Fractal owners,

Does any of you with a Meshify 2 and an LF II 360 with a top mount can tell me how is the RAM clearance? I couldn't find anything in the manual, only for the rail closer to the motherboard's side (36mm), but it is for the standard thickness radiators.

I'm building a new system and I want to buy an Arctic Liquid Freezer II 360 which has a thicker radiator. For the RAM I've planned to buy G.SKILL Trident Z5 (non RGB variant) DDR5 rams. Am I good to go with this configuration?

Thanks

I have a Meshify 2 with an Arctic 360 on the top inside rail (closest to the motherboard). The only reason it fits is because I'm using corsair vengeance low profile RAM. I ordered some T30s to replace the arctic fans with, and I will need to move the radiator to the outside rail to fit, otherwise the fans will contact the RAM.

Here are some photos of how close they are. https://imgur.com/a/ZnG9WGd

The Arctic freezer is an amazing cooler, I highly recommend it. Blows away the Noctua NH-U12A I was using before, 20 degrees drop on a 5950x.

Hey, have you tried to front mount the rad? Im considering buying the lf ii 360 with that case for my 13700k (my NH u14s don't handle it well). I can't decide if front mount or top...i saw that front mount will give much better cpu temps with minimal impact on the gpu temps

I personally wouldn't front mount with the Meshify 2 because the distance from the CPU to the front is so large it would only fit with hose up position. I know others say it's not a big deal, but I want it to last as long as possible, and gamers nexus's testing showed that it's not good for longevity.

Top mounting has been great, and I've tried the fans in intake and exhaust orientations. Intake was better for CPU temps by a few degrees, indicating that the gpu exhaust was impacting the CPU a bit. This resulted in more dust in the case, even with the filter, so I've opted to keep it as exhaust.

Hope that helps!

Thank you Very much.. I think that I'll try the top mount and if i won't see big improvement in the temps I'll try the front mount even with the hoses up...my cpu runs hot:(

Thanks. I'm wondering if taller RAM would fit on the outer rail :)

I'm not sure I'm seeing it right but isn't that a Meshify 2 compact on your image?

Perhaps it's the perspective, it is a Meshify 2 regular size. Here's some more photos, including a measurement of the top rails. Looks like a 2.5 cm offset. The Corsair LPX memory has maybe 2 or 3 mm space with the radiator fan. You can use those measurements to see if your RAM will fit. Hope that helps.

Thank you. I can look at RAMs more "safely" now :)

20 degrees!? That seems like a lot. Almost makes me wonder if some of that was related to a poor mounting/contact surface/thermal paste/airflow. I'd thought that the uh12a should be fairly competitive within like 10 degrees or so of AIO.

Believe me, I was surprised too. I'm definitely not excluding personal error in it. This U12A had performed perfectly well in an old Corsair case and in an NR200. Max gaming temperatures would be in the low 70s for the same CPU in those cases.

I thought the spacious air flow of the Meshify 2 would make it even better. 3 140mm fans at the front, two above the motherboard, and one at the back. The only difference was a change from an RTX A4000 to a Founders Edition 4090. The gpu inside-fan was right in front of the U12A. I'm not sure if this is the source of the temp increase because I've seen in videos that it shouldn't make much difference in CPU temperatures compared to other GPU cooling styles. But now in gaming I was seeing cpu averages, not just maximums, in the low 80s. Not the end of the world for a Ryzen CPU. But I thought I would try an AIO. Now the CPU maxes out at 63°C, even in stress tests, and at a lower rpm. So regardless of the cause, I'm happy with the results! I'm an AIO believer now

Ah yeah that makes more sense. I've not tested that myself, but would make sense you'd see higher temps with that FE card blowing all that hot air right into the uh12a. So I'd guess the real difference is closer to 10 degrees since you were seeing low 70's prior and then low 60's with the AIO. It's funny - I use a uh12a on my undervolted 7600x in my north case with a gigabyte 4090 and it usually sits around 50 degrees when gaming... Granted my 7600x is going to generate a lot less heat than your 5950x. So the u12a is already sorta overkill for my build.

I saw your build! That's a slick set up. Great airflow.

Just built the same with GSkill trident Z5 RGB, no clearance issue whatsoever.

Thanks. I can look at rams more safely now :) Since I have the solid version, I'm looking at non-rgb rams, they are even a little bit lower in height than the RGB version.
