Estonia needs to embrace it's baliticity

Discussion

I've seen a lot of posts recently about Estonia into nortic countries, but I do not think this would represent us the best culturally or economically. We Estonians are more like Latvians and Lithuanians than any nortic groups. It is so much easier to start a conversation with a Latvian (as an Estonian). We share similar hardships from Russians and the Soviet union, we share similar experiences from childhood, swimming in the Baltic sea, seeing similar types of people. We connect better. I can't stand but 5 minutes of sitting near a Finnish person. Even though we share a language and a common decent, I can't connect to Finns like I would Balts.

I think it is a shame how much we shun our Baltic neighbors and Baltic heritage. It's just my opinion, but I can't stand seeing some (some) Estonians think of themselves better because they consider themselves nortic.
