Hybrid wizard difficulties since IE deprecation

Question

Hi,

I'm finding since the recent Windows updates (I'm presuming this is IE related.. but could be wrong) all our environments are finding it really annoying to run the hybrid wizard.

It was always the case that if you opened it in Edge, it would flash IE for a second to open the Click to run app. Attempting to open aka.ms/hybridwizard on any machine with an existing install now just presents the error "Deployment and application do not have matching security zones.". I don't always have a spare machine in a client site to use to try and run this wizard, and it's not clear to me how to uninstall these click-to-run apps since they don't show up in add/remove programs. There are threads all over the Internet talking about editing the Trusted Sites list in IE as a solution but that sounds like a fairly broken process. I don't get why this couldn't just be an installed app but I guess that's another whole issue.

The worst part is that I feel like if I fiddle with it for half an hour using multiple different browser sessions it'll magically eventually just work.

What's the real process here?
