Advice on how to NOT be the Holy Roman Emperor?

I'm playing an Italy game. I've gotten most of Sicily to de jure drift into Italy, and I'm working on getting most of de jure Burgundy and Tyrol to drift in as well.

Unfortunately, this has been complicated by a couple of details. The first, is that Italy recently drifted into the de Jure HRE, which means my dukes are all electors now. The ruling dynasty of the HRE is also rather weak as well. This is partially my fault, because I pushed for multiple plots to lower crown authority since I didn't realize that this would eventually alter my CA when I drifted in. I also pushed for elective succession while HRE CA was low, since a previous Emperor had swapped to Primogeniture (not sure how this happened) right before a different, stronger German dynasty was set to win an election (I wanted the Emperor title passed to a different line).

Anyway, the problem is now that my vassals are all trying to vote for me, King of Italy, Cyprus, and Greece, Duke of Lombardy and Tuscany, to be the next HRE and they seem to outnumber the rest of the HRE. I do have some time to work with, as the current Emperor is only in their 30's.

As for why I don't want to be the Emperor? Because I'd rather be a vassal, I've already done the world conquest, God-Emperor thing with Hispania. Also, I really want Burgundy's territory and Tyrol to de-jure drift into Italy, which they won't do if I'm the Emperor (they remain vassals of mine, but are placed under the authority of the Empire rather than my Kingdom).

I'm also considering declaring independence, but I'm worried that because my land is considered a de jure part of the HRE, that I'll still be a nominee to the title. Is this the case, or if not, should I declare Italian independence now?

I... I know that one possible solution is just being a dick to my electors, but I don't want to threaten my realm stability.

It's really frustrating that there isn't an option to decline the throne. It's also frustrating that other electors are ignoring the fact that I don't even vote for my self to succeed as Emperor.

TL;DR I cocked up the crown laws of the HRE after they switched to primogeniture by forcing a return to elective succession, but now I'm an actual de jure vassal King, and all my dukes are dominating the vote to make me the next Emperor

EDIT: Also, I'm not above some minor cheating via console command/playing as other characters in this save game.

UPDATE: I attempted several things, none of which have worked really. I tried moving my capital to Tunisia, and had my son hold onto Tuscany so that it would be mine again eventually (or at the least, so that it would remain in my direct lineage since it is highly upgraded land compared to most of Italy). I still remained the election target.

Then I got myself killed. Now my young character is in regency and most of my vassals are STILL voting for my character to be the HRE. On the plus side, my realm is so stable that none of my vassals are bothered by my regency. Even better, all the various German and Dutch dukes seem to have gotten their shit together and all basically agree with the Kaiser on their choice of heir and they are narrowly outvoting the Italian contingent (I fear this may change when my character comes of age and becomes more prestigious and pious).
