Convince Me on Levis

As of right now, my ideal draft picks at #2 (in order) are Bryce Young, Anthony Richardson, and C.J. Stroud. Those are all guys I can pretty easily get behind and support happily. Anyone who likes Levis more than any other QB prospect in this draft, convince me he’s the guy without tearing down the other 3.

Well they are the best jeans. 169 years of development. I think they are pretty good quality. I mean Target brand may be better. They get worn out in like 2-3 years. Levis will last you at-least 5, if not more.

I love you

I can’t, he fucking sucks

I’m still conflicted on Levis but I’m not as much against him as I used to be. The main things that I’ve been learning are:

  • He’s more than just arm strength, he can throw with precision as well and was fairly accurate. The downside to this is he could get a little too confident and try to thread needles that weren’t there leading to a higher turnover rate. Drafting him means you’re confident you can coach this out of him.

  • In addition to arm strength, he has a lightning quick release. If the pocket is breaking down around him, he can get the ball out nearly instantly.

  • Of the big three he is the only one who has run a pro system and has more experience in actually going through route progressions that will be necessary at the pro level.

  • As others have said, his leadership qualities seem to be off the chart. I’d be lying if I said I watched much UK football, but almost everyone I read talking about him love playing or coaching him.

Basically to sum up how I heard it explained to me is all of his positives are things that you can’t teach and come naturally and all of his negatives (and there are quite a bit) are things that can be coached out. The question becomes how confident are you that they will be.

I’m surprised your nuanced evaluation of what you saw of his tape isn’t downvoted to oblivion because it’s not “hur dur Levis bad because box score and twitter”

I hear the pro system analysis a lot what is different about the system he played in compared to other college teams?

I can convince y’all to take him in the 4th round where he belongs, though right?

Like an RG3 cousins situation?

Levis is my number 1 qb on the board and I’m okay with being in the minority. What makes a good QB? Accuracy, size, arm strength, leadership.

Levis is the second most accurate QB according to college stats compared to the ‘Big 4’ — however, Levis played behind the worst o line of the Big 4 and had the youngest/lowest recruiting rated weapons to throw to.

The shortest QB to win a Super Bowl? Russel Wilson. Who happened to have an all time historical defense at his back and a potential HOF RB with Lynch. Bryce Young will measure 1-2 inches shorter than Wilson and will be considerably lighter. Bryce Young also dealt with injuries in college. Watching film on Bryce Young, he’s completely disrupted and down right bad when the pocket is pressed into his lap. The current weakest part of our oline is guard and center. We also play in a division vs Deforest Buckner and Jeffrey Simmons, who have tormented us.

Arm strength — yes Anthony Richardson has this too, but posted a 53.8% completion percentage in 2022. Ahhh but everyone points to Richardson playing like Josh Allen, except Josh Allen his final season at Wyoming still posted a 65% completion percentage. Richardson isn’t close to Allen.

Leadership — I think all these QB’s have good leadership qualities, but Levis has been in the media and well documented for this being a strong point. Not anything tangible here, but it’s something to note.

The biggest thing to remember is, Levis played on the worst team of the bunch but he had Kentucky in the top 10 regardless until injuries kicked in on his team. He plays in a pro style offense, which none of the other 3 do. He throws the best deep ball of the Big 4.

Anybody who says Will Levis is the second most accurate QB in this draft either isn’t watching the tape or is willfully lying

11
WC_Griff•

You realize that he statistically is, and is playing with the worst parts around him against one of the toughest schedules in the NCAA. If that doesn’t factor into your evaluation, then we won’t have any common ground regardless 🤷‍♂️

4
Htownwolf•

This whole post is false. And Levis definitely doesn’t throw the best deep ball.

4†
WC_Griff•

I’m not sure how it’s false? The only opinion I made in the entire thing was the deep ball part, everything else is fact. If you watch the tape on his deep ball, it’s the best of the Big 4, and I think only Hendon Hooker throws a better deep ball than Levis

2†
BitActual3751•

He wants to be different and dislikes Richardson cause he’s inaccurate when that’s also Levis biggest problem while Richardson is better than him at everything else.

rumhambyth•

I commend you for being higher on Levis but Young won’t measure at 5’9. That’s ridiculous.

Drew Brees measured at 6 feet and 1/4 inches. Here’s Young next to Brees. He’s going to measure 5’10 at best, which is why I said 1-2 inches shorter than Russel Wilson, who is 5’11.

1
UptMonsta•

Ahhh, you're forgetting about a certain short QB who won a bowl in New Orleans and made making deep playoff runs a yearly tradition after decades of losing.

1
WC_Griff•

Did you see the post where it’s Young standing next to Brees that I put in here? He is 2-3 inches shorter than Brees.

It’s just not the same. 🤷‍♂️

1
UptMonsta•

Stop it. Camera angles are often misleading. Brees is not three inches taller than Young. If Young were that short he’d be in Kyler territory. Regardless, like Brees Young can make all of the throws, is a master pocket manipulator with a intel7 for a brain.

1
WC_Griff•

5’10 and 1/8. 3 inches shorter than Brees 👍

1
UptMonsta•

And Young is the best of the bunch by far when playing off schedule. Not sure where you saw pressure making him crumble.

1
WC_Griff•

LSU ‘22 film. When he’s spied by a NFL LB and pocket is pressed, he’s not good.

Just not a good stadium. Compared to older ones it’s nice, but look at SoFi. They easily could have built an amazing stadium for the niners but instead, they have the most average stadium in the league

10
RainbowBullsOnParade:ka:•

If he wasn't incredibly injury prone, if he could take care of the ball, if he could react to the pass rush, if he demonstrated anticipation, touch, or accuracy, then yeah I'd sell him to you big time.

As of now my pitch is "he'd be a steal in the 4th round"

9
Maleficent_Ad_1253:HOU:•

so essentially if he could be a good qb?

4
pphill4•

Correct

1
Overhaul89•

From my few games watching him, it really does seem like his offensive line is as atrocious as they say - may explain why they had to resort to so many passes behind the LOS last season. When he had time, he looked pretty accurate and his arm strength is no joke; unlike Richardson (whom I also like) he generally got more accurate as he went on in college.

6
VeseliM•

Big boy can throw the ball over them mountains over there!

That's the sales pitch. It usually doesn't work, the first round underdeveloped arm cannon, but it did recently with Josh Allen so people are putting the comp on it.

Think about this, if Russell Wilson hadn't won a Superbowl, Kyler wouldn't have been drafted 1 overall. But everyone was like size doesn't matter at the time.

5
Htownwolf•

This just simply isn’t true lol. Kyler was one of the most hyped prospects ever just from his high school days alone.

2
VeseliM•

Hyped yes, but for his athleticism.

Kyler was a bust at A&M and went to be a backup at OU. Got drafted in the first round of the MLB draft and everyone knew he was going to play baseball. He wasn't considered an NFL prospect at all going into his one starting year at OU.

blackhawk_801:watt1:•

i will live stream my suicide if we draft levis

Then you’ll upload a POV jerk sesh if we do draft him and he pops off

Not until I absolutely have to.

I will only do this if you are the Colts

2
yaprettymuch52:gas-mask:•

best skillset for the nfl out of all the qbs. will have a top 5 arm and is built like bulky stafford. he can attack the middle of the field under pressure and regularly showed the ability to get the ball out under 2-3 seconds within structure. he excells at what makes most qbs great in the NFL and I think his issues are fixable. not to mention he is most likely gonna be the best QB day 1. I really think he ends up having a herbert esc rookie year with maybe more wtf are you doing throws like watson had with us ie attacking too much

2
TheKrakIan•

Texans just placed a coaching staff. Be realistic, there's FA and combine to get through.

1
stros2022wschamps2•

No. No one convince anyone of Levis plz

1
rumhambyth•

I don’t think he’s as good as Stroud or Young but I think he’s a lot better than people give him credit for and he’s gonna prove a lot of people wrong.

skip to Levis’s part. Marcus explains him as a prospect better than I can

1
corrydog:HOU:•

I can't get behind Richardson at 2 if you have Stroud/Young/ or Will Anderson at that spot.

Thats just me, plus if you are super high on Anderson and Richardson you could probably get him by using your other first and your second to move up to grab the QB.

No reaching or projects at 2 please. Doesn't seem like Nick Caserio's style either way.

He proved it last year by taking Stingley over Gardner because he had proven tape against great LSU WR when healthy.

1
ranous88•

No thank you.

1

He's prototypical size and has a cannon for an arm. He's kind of like Joe Flacco and that guy won a Super Bowl.
