Sharp LC-55P6000U possible board replacement

[Problem]

I have a Sharp LC-55P6000U that's acting strange. It will display from the 1.4 hdmi port but is unresponsive to either the remote or the buttons on the tv, and has no sound. From my reading so far I assuming it's the main board either a hardware issue or a failed firmware update.

I tried plugging a network cable in and leaving it for a few hours, hoping it might update on it's own. No dice. I tried finding a replacement mainboard but that appears to be unobtainium, as does a firmware download for potential usb loading.

Which brings me to my question. Can I replace with a mainboard from a similar model? I did some basic reading on lvds, which led me to the conclusion that just cable compatible board wouldn't be enough. The mainboard and T-con board need to be configured to work together.

So I googled the T-Con board ST5461D07-1-C-3 and found it to be a replacement part for several other models, the closest being LC-55LBU591U. I CAN find that board for sale, and connection wise looks very close with the exception of the X1 power connector. According to the silkscreens the alternative board has a slightly different pin configuration. I'm comfortable changing the pins on the connector and both power supply part numbers are the same so this seems to be something I can work around.

Am I on the right track for last-resort hacky fix or way off?

There are plenty of boards for thos TV on ebay.

There are a lot of repair service offerings and some boards matching the model number but with different layouts, connectors, or size. I set up a monitored search on there a week ago, and a compatible board did get put up for sale a few hours after I posted this, but the asking price is just more than the tv is worth. I'd rather spend $40 on a board and have a little fun knowing it might not work. If it works I learned something, and the 55LBU591U board seems a lot easier to find if it fails again.

Probably down the rabbit hole again, but such is life for the cheap and curious.

Not sure if you tried this or not but take the back off the tv. Unplug the speakers. Does the remote respond? If not plug the speakers back in and remove the plug to the keypad? Does the remote respond? If not plug the keyboard back in and unplug the IR sensor. Does the keypad work? It could be any of those with a short drawing the supply voltage down causing your issue. If all that fails then a new mainboard is in order.

Did you ever find a fix? I have the same model Sharp tv. I get a red light, but tv does not respond to remote nor power button. I’d buy a main board, but replacement boards cost more than tv is worth. Anyway to replace components on main board? Which components?

I ended up buying a replacement main board on ebay for about $60 and it fixed the problem. Not sure if it was worth it financially, but hated to just scrap it. It was really tricky to get the right board though, the model numbers matched several different board layouts. There was an obscure label on the board that had a part number poorly identified. Mine was 220787, located on the label with the barcode in the second line, after the "/". No idea why they made it so hard to identify.

Thanks. The board is now about $100. Not sure if it will fix my tv which has a steady red light only (does not respond to remote nor power button). Wish I knew what components are bad on the main board.

I set up an ebay search on the model # and waited. There was one for about $100 initially, then I bought one cheaper several weeks later when a better priced listing showed up. Good luck! There was a surprising amount of listing churn on those boards.

I'm having trouble remembering all of the details, but one other thing I recall that might be of some use is that some of similar failures on Sharps/Aquos happened because an auto update of the OS on the TV failed. I ran across a few posts where people were able to reload the firmware from Sharp that they had downloaded and saved to a usb stick. The 6000u was apparently a black friday special / custom run and the sharp site never listed any firmware for it, but maybe you have one the models they did list.

I tried looking for the firmware but could not find it. Also, because I cannot turn it on the firmware wouldn’t load anyway (even if I had it). I had a Hisense that needed new firmware but couldn’t load for the same reason. Ended up replacing the main board and that fixed it. Thanks very much for the suggestions. I will wait for the board on eBay. Hope a better priced board shows up. Thanks!
