Meaningless article. McDonald could have called head a useless prick and he would have said the same thing
It was a massive call (I think it was a mistake), it probably would have made no difference to the result but Head had earned his spot with a good home series.
It was a conversation that should have never been had, given his form over the past 2 years. If anyone deserves a 'robust ' conversation, it should have been Warner. Instead this mob of gutless selectors drop the most in-form middle order batsman in our squad and replace him with an opening bat who should be at the top of the order. Now they are going to put Head in as an opener, a position that he excels in for the limited overs form of the game, (and might be ok on the Indian turners), but will be doomed to fail over in England, when the hooping new ball requires patience. Fundamentally, it is wrong to select players for international duty, and play them out of position. Absolutely setting them up to fail.
“Robust conversation” is code for calling McDonald a clown.
Yeah, should've played the first test.
Not trying to read too much into it, but this does sound like it's in contrast to the previous coaching set up. It's hard to imagine someone from the playing group saying that a similar discussion with JL would've had the respect going both ways.
Not really much of a story. "Robust conversations" is basically 101 for athlete media training.

Head is a South Australian?
Hmm why did I think he was Victorian?
What about Khawaja?
Edit: I get it, just dismiss actual player opinions on the topic and make up your own based on boilerplate selection chat
