Staggermaster -- N7 Slayer
Hi guys. I'm a part-time lurker, and this is my first post here. Be gentle!
So, I stumbled across this build after speccing a lv. 11 Slayer for Phase Disruptor to try sniping in tandem with Shield Boost. I figured I'd level it up to 20 on my own and tossed on a Scorpion for kicks, and looked for a Silver lobby. The host changed it to Gold and I didn't notice, and to my surprise I outscored everyone, including a Turian Ghost and Kroguard. I've been playing around with it and it's a real diamond in the rough.
As the title implies, the name of the game is staggering. All three of his tools make for fantastic stumbling, and using them in tandem you can keep yourself healthy and your opponents off their feet.
The Scorpion is the first of these tools. If an enemy can get staggered, it will get staggered with this. It's a great gun for crowd control, and can put the hurt on bosses as well, especially with the new tech explosion mechanics, Phase Disruptor making a solid detonator, and the Scorpion always applying ammo effects.
Your second stopping tool is Phase Disruptor. While it's a high-risk attack at times, it can push back even an Atlas, and it's good for keeping the juggling going. Additionally, with the delay on Scorpion detonation if you don't put the mines right at the enemy's feet, it's your quickest burst of stagger damage (that doesn't leave you right in a boss's face).
Finally, Biotic Charge. This is used more as a panic button than a bread-and-butter attack. You want to keep enemies at a healthy distance, but sometimes they have other plans, or it ends up either Charge or die. If you think it's safe to do so though, drop a few mines and slam into them. Due to the mine delay, you can lay three or four Scorpion orbs, Charge into a group, and gain the extra weapon damage before they explode.
Points are put into your carry capacity and power damage since the Scorpion doesn't get headshots, and three points are put into Biotic Slash as it can come in handy at times and the final carry capacity rank isn't needed. With a low level Scorpion though, maxing out the weight bonuses may be desirable. Fitness is maxed with an emphasis on survivability, since melee doesn't suit this playstyle.
I used to dislike the Slayer. I looked at him as a more suicidal Novaguard with a tool to troll sniper teammates. I realize now that I was quite wrong about him. Why not give it a try?
