Going to my first Steelers game next week

I live in Denmark and I’ve been a Steelers fan for 12 years (first time Danish TV showed a Steelers game).

Would have loved my first Steelers game to be at Heinz Field. But I’m still excited to see New Meadowlands and the Steelers play the Giants.

Just thought I would share with you guys.

I went to a Steelers Giants preseason game at Metlife. Stadium is nice, but I'm not a fan of the Colosseum setting - the Pittsburgh backdrop at Heinz adds a great feel to the game. Giants fans are a fun bunch, but like any NY sports fan base can get annoying. You should be fine though - enjoy the game!

So it should be okay for me to wear my Steelers jersey to the game?

The Steelers travel well! You'll be dressed like many in the crowd. In Nashville (it still hurts) I saw many Wards and Polamalus but also a few Bradshaws and Greens. Wave that towel!

I'm looking to get a new jersey for the game and a Bradshaw or Green might be a good choice.

I read Jerome’s biography, and he wrote that no matter where in the world he went, there was always someone in a Steelers Jersey or with a towel. Though that was pretty cool.

I just saw the jets at the stadium cause it was cheap and i had never been. The stadium was not that impressive but hey you are there for the game.

That stadium is hot garbage, and a pain in the neck to get to from nyc.

We are staying in Brooklyn and were hoping that getting to the stadium wasn’t going to be too difficult. But with our reply and the NY marathon the same day, I’m guessing it's not going to be easy.

yikes assume 2 hours and be pleasantly surprised if less.

Its and 7 hours plane ride too get to NY in the first place, so 2 hours public transport doesn’t seem that bad (seems I’m in a "glass half full" mood, might change to "glass half empty" after the first hour off public transport)

Leave your gear hidden when you take transit and ask for directions, lest you end up in Connecticut.

That's November 4th. Not next week.

Might have been a bit too excited when I wrote it and you are of course completely correct.

It was just announced that the Steelers are playing at Wembley Stadium in London next fall. You may get to see another game much sooner than it took you to see your first!

Hope you have fun and we can pull off a win! We are at a big deciding point in our season right now. We look like a 9-7 team at best right now, but if we can start our divisional games strong against the Bengals this weekend, and put up a good fight against the Skins and GMen, hopefully we can get on a roll.

That said, now that the Ravens are decimated on defense, this division will be won with a 10-6 record I think. So you get to see some good, meaningful football even though we might be 4-4 when you do!

P.S. between the 3rd and 4th quarter, sing renegade loudly and jump around... it'll be just like Heinz!

Yeah let’s hope we are only thanking about a slow start, and that the Steelers can pull of 3 straight wins in a row to get back in the playoff hunt.

Would love my first Steelers game to be a Win.

I was hoping the game would have been in Ireland. Though that would have been cool with Art and all that. But I’m already looking into going to the game.

Have fun! My first steelers game was last year at Candlestick Park when the Steelers lost 20-6 :\ I was a little down that they lost (and tickets at the time were pretty expensive) but the whole experience is great!

Yes my name is Lars Steen.

I coach football and a lot of the players/coaches are fellow Steelers fans, so I’m thinking about arranging a Steelers trip from DK. Would be cool to get a bunch of Steelers fans together in the same section.
