having issues with fires now

Since the patch I realize that stick fires go out much quicker now, so I cut a bunch of firewood. Everything was going fine but now the fires will not let me add more wood, I light of fire and it goes out in two seconds, so I am unable to cook anything unless I start a fire in a new location then it will let me add logs and cook but after that fire is out again will not let me add more logs. I really don't want to build a fire pit every time I need to cook . The firewood is quartered then halfed like it shows in the book. Am I missing something?
