Questions about amending the TY2021 return
Am using FreeTaxUSA software (same software I used for TY2021 filing). I am aware I am going to have to mail in the amended return. TY2021 original return didn't have SLCSP data in it, so it was not till now I realized I am due premium tax credits (it is in thousands of dollars, due to multiple family members being on Marketplace plans, with no outside minimum essential coverage available)
Q1: FreeTaxUSA says I would need to mail in "summary statement" for anything in 1099-B that did not have cost basis reported to IRS. I already did that (mailed in "summary statement") for the original TY2021 filing. Do I need to do this again for the amended return? There were no changes to 1099 stuff (INT, DIV, B, etc), so I'm not sure if FTU is just saying this due to detection of the need to mail in summary statement, which was already done with the original filing.
Q2: Per FTU software, it says "You don't need to attach the entire "As Amended" federal return to your Form 1040-X. Just attach the pages of the "As Amended" federal return that were affected by the changes shown on your Form 1040-X."
Among with 1040-X itself, I'm planning to included both "As Most Recently Filed" and "As Amended" versions of:
-
page 2 of 1040 (where premium tax credits shows up, among with calculations of total tax bill etc),
-
page 2 of Schedule 3 (where value from Form 8962 goes into line 9)
-
This one I'm not sure about: Form 8962 did not exist in the original filing, so it doesn't show up in the PDF generated by FTU for "As Most Recently Filed", but does show up in "As Amended". Is this going to be a problem if I send only "As Amended" version of Form 8962 for the amended return? Since "As Most Recently Filed" version does not exist? What should I do here if that is an issue? Would they be okay if I write something on a blank paper in place of "As Most Recently Filed" for this one, with explanation that this was not in the original filing?
Thanks in advance.
