Stimulants, agonists, reputable inhibitors, and downregulation
Hoping this is a good place to post this, looking for some insight from people with a better handle on biology than me.
This is a pretty broad question but I’m curious to know if downregulation of receptors after long-term usage of agonists or reuptake inhibitors is permanent or if the body will eventually bounce back and readapt to normal stimuli after cessation.
If anyone can provide more insight into long term effects in regard to downregulation from: -dopiminergics (stimulants, DRIs, etc.) -SSRIs -alpha & beta adrenergic agonists -GABA agonist
If these are used long term is the downregulation permanent?
Sorry for such a broad question but thanks in advance for any information!
