My honest opinion: VR

Discussion

I love my quest 2, but... I find the selection of games quite stale. Now before you all start commenting, let me explain. The quest 2 game library feels like Apple Arcade, the games do not feel like real games and feel more like arcade games. I understand that VR may be younger technology by today's standers but I feel that VR manufacturers are focusing more on hardware than having good games.

Microsoft is out there buying companies to expand their selection of games and improve the experience overall. But when I search for games to play on my quest, I see all the basics like Beat Saber, Onward, Pavlov, Superhot, and all of that... but so many games that are popular on the quest are always modded. I love modding, but this shows that the community is putting more effort into VR games than VR companies themselves.

The one exception to this, in my opinion, is Half-Life: Alyx. The game is one of the few that feels like a full AAA game, but it is not even on quest 2. And if you would want to bring up the argument of "the quest is only a mobile VR headset that is not as capable as a PC," that may be a valid argument for Half-Life, but there are other good examples of a good game that runs fully on the quest, such as Resident Evil 4. It is a huge game with a load of content, and yet other VR game companies fail to replicate this.

The takeaway from this is that VR game companies should put more effort into their games and make sure they have loads of content that the end-user will spend their money on. If you read this far, thanks.
