He’s got guaranteed money now with the spurs medical team looking after him and there’s barely any season left. I’m ok with it being Mamu and Barlow time

That sucks - I liked the way he was growing.

Can anyone explain this injury? The knee cap isn’t a weight bearing bone. I assume it’s painful but is it an injury that could be played through or is there risk of further damage?

Med student here… it’s not a weight bearing bone but it’s the connective point that attached your quadriceps to your tibia. So, even though you aren’t putting weight on it, there’s still tension every time the knee is working. Luckily, because it’s a bone, it will heal and be good as new. If this was a different type of knee injury like something that affects a ligament (ACL, MCL, etc.) then the knee would not be as good as new after healing. Ligament tears can be repaired, but they won’t ever be as strong as they once were. So, to keep pressure off of the other ligaments it’s also important to let this fracture heal.

Glad to have gotten that information. But sad to be reminded that I have no ACL and my MCL and meniscus are all f*ed up 😆

Hope Bassey heals up soon; happy to know it'll be good as new when it happens

Damn, sorry about that!

No need to share because it’s personal, but I think the injury you probably had was called an “unhappy triad”?

Haha yup, that's what the doctor mentioned too. 👍

Poor guy. That’s going to be a hell of a recovery but he’s young, I’m confident he’ll come back 100%
