Sure, Don, you just want to go over the plans for Disneyland tomorrow. đ

âGet in the car.â
âEat ice cream.â
"Leave work.â
âTake off your dress."
âYes, Master.â
"Go over the plan for disneyland for tomorrow"
Happy Birthday Baby!!! <3
"Where's my furniture? OK here's one million dollars!"
Far Away Places was one of the toughest episodes out there
âDo you think I should be involved in such high-level decisions?â
Zou bisou bisou
Probably my favorite line of hers
Fayeâs only sin was being familiar.
I love Faye, and I think sheâs a better person than Don and deserving of happiness. But she and Don were never a good match. Faye is the type of woman Don wanted to love, as he envisioned his idealized self. But Don was not actually up for the reality of a partner who was his equal, strong, smart, her own person. Don is too weak for that shit. Same reason he couldnât keep up swimming and quit smoking. He only likes the beginnings of things, he doesnât have the commitment to maintain when it gets hard.
Those swimming cuts while he's writing feel like a fever dream
Yeah and speaking of fever dreams. Donâs actual fever dream was nuts, where he hid the body (forget of who) in his bachelor apartment. I was freaking out thinking that Don was going to take super sharp path to morbid and become a bonafide murderer.
I honestly thought for the entire few minutes before itâs cleared up that he would have to get away with it because thereâs so many more seasons. But I was so conflicted because I was like there is no way heâs gonna cut up her body and hide it, thatâs not like this show at all.
Hell the most gore-y scene is just showing the characterâs reactions to the guy having his foot cut in half. So I really was like âand for the next 3 4 seasons everyone still loves him after he strangled this woman to death?!â
It felt so real.
can't get away with murder in an apartment with white carpets
No. It was being awful with kids and specializing in psychology which Don hates. But I see your point.
Also, donât ask her to cook. She doesnât cook!
Hahah! That too
But Megan cooks a mean buttered spaghetti
ya know, she reminded me of my mom in that scene a bit. My mom COULDNâT cook for shit, like wouldnât even try, she could assemble food like every good wife, especially for trips but my dad was the best cook and always cooked.
My mom would make one meal if needed and it was âbuttered noodlesâ, and to this day I still make it if Iâm super tired and have no effort and want nostalgic memories. Itâs super simple, bow tie pasta, and about 4 full sticks of butter (exaggerating???? Or not ?), a splash of Italian seasoning and shredded Parmesan.
I thought it was SO GOOD, but clearly looking back at it now itâs kinda obvious that anything is good with a bunch of salt and butter lmfao
She got a hell of an arm with that spaghetti too.
Don thought she couldnât deal with kids, but she might have been perfectly fine with time. Megan had enough experience with kids that she immediately looked competent. However with time she didnât fill in any of the gaps from Donâs and Bettyâs deficiencies as parents. If anyone did, it was Henry Francis, and he seemed like he probably was supportive to those kids when he was offscrean, too.
I think Faye would have been much more like Henry. She seemed smart, sensible, and not as self-centered as Don, Betty, or Megan. Imagine if Henry and Faye were the second spouses and they all interected at a wedding. Henry and Faye might confide to each other that they both married disasters only for their looks.
Don thought she couldn't deal with kids, and because of that he knew deep down, she wouldn't deal with him
Yep this!! She was never going to be charmed by his immaturity
I always got the sense that the kids loved Henry.
Henry didnât seem interesting in my first watch, but he was remarkably loyal to Betty after I imagine he had regrets. I think he must have been surprisingly dependable to those children who hadnât see adults be adults before.
However with time she didnât fill in any of the gaps from Donâs and Bettyâs deficiencies as parents.
She did, actually. She was the only person (aside from Roger) who treated Sally like an adult, almost like a peer, and her being the âcool older sisterâ really had a stabilising effect on her.
Not to mention that Megan had parents which Sally would find really similar. She grew up defusing bombs in the household â thatâs why she doesnât like fighting with Don, and why she is always so diplomatic. I can totally see Sally finding Betty passed out on the chair with a cigarette on her hand, and acting the same way Megan did.
Faye could have also been good with kids. These things arenât mutually exclusive. But Megan had her strengths as well, which the sub often ignores.
NooooOoooooo. Faye was perfect and we have to all bow at the alter of Faye.
Sheâs the softest.
And the author of my flair lol
I think you might have missed the sarcasm in my comment.
She advocated shitting in the ocean.
Ikr
Lmao what ?? Hahahah when was this again ??
When she was screaming in the phone booth at a now-ex: âGo shit in the ocean!â
I gotta say, watching this on Amazonâs Freeve is a mess. The app would rather cram commercials during every scene instead of following the natural cuts â like when it fades to black.
I got so sick of it, I just went ahead and purchased the entire series digitally. This was my first experience with the series, and Freevee made it a hassle haha
I wish I saw the Vudu deal before my rewatch. I canât tell you how many times I would get annoyed by the back to back SodaStream ads.
Only took me eight watch-throughs to finally go over to Apple and buy the entire series for like $35
I got a helluva deal on Vudu: $19!
Fr man why does the commercial start 1 second before the natural cut? Then commercials end and thereâs a weird blip of a leftover scene.
I had pivotal moments cut up by a 3 minute commercial breaks. It only gets worse.
Like when Pete getting the phonecall about his dadâs crash and it cuts to Alaskan Airlines and then back to Madmen when he walks all sad to Donâs office.
Letâs start at flirtation-land and end with the fireworks show đĽ
Careful Don, that's a million dollar woman.
People donât remember that it was Megan who first went into Donâs office
I remember. Thatâs what makes him going to her room with this silly pretext even funnier.
Iâm picking up Sophia Loren vibes from this shot.
great comparison
Any dad worth his salt plans out a Disney day ahead of time - but never overplan!
Going to grab some smokes, lover. See you in the morning.
Thatâs practically her next comment
This shot exemplifies why I never bought the idea of Megan as a very young and naive ingenue. She is so reminiscent of Mrs. Robinson from The Graduate here. She never struck me as the very young woman that Weiner wanted us to see her as. She looks fully as old and socially sophisticated as Betty, if not older.
The least Don Draper thing Don Draper ever said
It's believable, I've been to Disneyland, once second you're on a peaceful Jungle Cruise, the next second you're in Never Coming back-land. Plus Don wanted to assure her that it wasn't a Small World after all.
To be honest she didn't pop by his room before leaving, looking smoking hot just to say good night
[deleted]
Megan was hotter than Betty
Agreed
Woof.
Haters will say Iâm wrong
What in white trash amazon prime hell Is this screenshot
As a side note, it annoyed me that Prime video listed her as âMegan Draperâ in the pause menu thing well before they got married. Had I not already seen the series, it would have been a big spoiler.
Imagine seeing that when she was a background secretary for the first half of season 4
This was me like a month ago lmao
That must have been so annoying, and just bizarre.
Happened to me đ
Happened to me =/
Yeah this spoiled me big time
Netflix used to show Megan receiving the ring as the banner image lol
Thatâs infuriating.
In general, I hate how Netflix tends to show stills from the most recent season, especially in shows that hinge around characters living or dying (GoT, Walking Dead). I started watching Cobra Kai season 1 when season 3 first came out, with a picture of >!Miguel in a wheelchair.!< Then by the time I got to season 3, season 4 was already out with >!the poster now being Miguel out of the wheelchair, and Daniel and Johnny teaming up against John Kreise and surprise newcomer Terry Silver.!<
To say nothing of the way that show in particular displayed every one of its newest cameos in its trailers or promotional thumbnails. Given the way they already use algorithms to tailor different thumbnails to viewers, you would think it would be nothing from a technological perspective to tie promo material to the season the viewer is on.
Betty is credited as Betty Draper Francis. I learned that in my first watch, unfortunately (but of course knew the marriage was toxic and needed to end).
Same thing happened to me. Very disappointing
