Multiplayer Moe: Week 3
Still steady going on from last time.
Generic bit of information for newcomers: Multiplayer Moe is a weekly event (each saturday) in which we join a Mumble server together (details below) at the same time. We then start watching episodes of moe series at the count of 3 so we're all in sync and then we talk about how this is our favorite intro ever, funny events, say "aww" a lot, and generally have a lot of fun. As of week 2, this is split up in 2 time slots: the first of which is at 12 UTC and the second at 17 UTC; we watch different series at the two timeslots so that there's not a lot of rewatching, not more than necessary anyway. Each session should last for approximately an hour, although I recommend sticking around afterwards for further moe, games or other internet-social activities.
Things you'll need for Mumble are as follows:
- The Mumble client is available for download here. You're not required to use a microphone if you don't have one or don't want to use it, as text chat is there as well.
- IP = mumble-3.verygames.net (NOTE: This address is temporarily unavailable, use 77.111.217.4)
- Port = 50066
- Username = [insert username here]
- Password (it'll ask once you click Connect) = rawwnime
To recap: this week we watched Azumanga Daioh episode 1, Ichigo Mashimaro episodes 0 and 1, K-On! episode 2 and Tamayura Hitotose episode 3. We've had a greater number of guests, as well: Magrias, MuffinBoss (this time with mic! :D), Buku111 and pitman for the first round (kikoualoe also made an appearance but didn't watch with us). Second round had Grozzle (with some technical difficulties), Kevvvn and pitman, so the total number of unique visitors was 8. Thanks for coming, I really enjoyed it!
Next week, October 27th, I plan to do the same thing again (unless feedback says otherwise). Azumanga Daioh ep 2 and Ichigo Mashimaro ep 2 in the first session (12 UTC) and K-On! ep 3 and Tamayura Hitotose ep 4 in the second session (17 UTC). Be sure to catch up beforehand!
Some technical notes: While the password will stay the same, I've dropped the number of max users back down to 10 for now as the previous 2 weeks have shown that it's simply not necessary to have 30 max users. I still encourage you to take a look throughout the week, solve technical issues, have a chat, watch some videos together, play a game together, whatever you fancy. Sort of like IRC with a mic, heh.
Feedback is, as always, welcome.
Also as always, some bonus moe.
Update 11:50 UTC 27 oct: The server seems to be having trouble. I'm working with the server host to resolve the problem, if this can't be done in a timely fashion I'll try to set up a temporary alternative one.
Update 12:10 UTC 27 oct: I've set up a temporary one, IP is [redacted], rest of the settings are the same. Should work.
Update 12:25 UTC 27 oct: Due to technical difficulties (the server host being a poop face and my server not working for at least Pitman) I'm going to have to skip the first session and put the series from session 1 into session 2. I've heard from a buddy that I can get a dedicated Mumble server on a box he has so I may just go with that for Multiplayer Moe.
Update 13:30 UTC 27 oct: Server itself is back up, however under a different IP - namely 77.111.217.4. The 17:00 UTC session is still on.
