Reviewing Snuffs

Hello, fellow snuffsters.

Here is a general outline for reviewing a snuff to help you get the thought process going about what should be included in a review. This is not a list of commands you must follow; you can write a review however you'd like. It is simply something to help you out if you're not sure where to start.

  1. Grind / Color / Moisture: Is the snuff finely ground like powdered sugar or chunkier? Is it white, black, brown, beige, or somewhere in between? Is it dry as bone or slightly moistened? If it is moist, have you tried drying some of it to see how that affects the flavors?

  2. Tin aroma: What does it smell like when you hold the opened tin to your nose? This almost always (in my experience) is a different scent than when it's actually in your nose.

  3. Flavor: This is probably the most important part for people wondering if they should try the snuff. Get to know the different types of snuff (white, SP, Schmaltzer, rappe, etc.) for comparison. Compare it to other brands' take on a similar flavor if possible (e.g. McChrystal's Raspberry vs. Toque Raspberry). What kinds of ideas come to mind when taste the pinch (e.g. F&T Bordeaux reminds me of being in a musty bookstore)?

  4. Nicotine hit: How was the buzz?

  5. Difficulty: Is this a snuff that wouldn't destroy a beginner's nose? Does it burn? Is the flavor likely to be inaccessible or unpleasant to some people? Is the nicotine level so high that beginners without previous nicotine experience would be floored?

Now let's see some reviews!
