Mad MAC 9mm Carbine

Tier II

I built this from a VMAC 9 parts kit. It included the complete pistol upper, internal parts, magwell/handgrip and floorplate. No side plates, so it wasn't a receiver. So I cut a pair of side plates from steel plate, drilled holes in the right places, and welded them up with the floorplate to make a receiver. It worked fine as a pistol, but I wanted a carbine so I made a barrel extension and welded it on. Then added a tab at the rear and bolted on a piece of steel from an old office chair as a "buffer" tube and added a surplus M4 buttstock to that. Later I found a cut Suomi M31 barrel shroud for cheap, and added that. Uses Sten mags btw.

No finish on the receiver; just let it develop that rat rod patina (aka "rust")!

Btw before you comment on the quality of my welds, keep in mind that in a Mad Max world you might be welding with a coat hanger, jumper cables and the alternator in your Falcon Interceptor.

Ammo was some cast bullet handloads featuring hard Russian primers, hence a couple of failures to fire (not the fault of the carbine).

It has the typical MAC trigger slap, so I fixed that with a boot cut from used fuel line.
